Carl Van Laer is currently the product line leader for Historians at J&J. In this function he’s supporting the 3 sectors of J&J (Janssen, Medical Device and Consumer) in different IOT initiatives worldwide.

Carl has more than 35 years of experience with IT in the manufacturing space. He has a bachelor degree in Informatics and is APICS CSCP and MESA GEP. He lives with his wife and 3 sons in the nice town of Brasschaat.

Optimize the availability of the autoclaves at the Janssen site in Leiden (Netherlands). 

For a large molecule API site the sterilization of equipment is important to avoid any contamination of the cell cultures. 

Equipment is expensive and the good functioning of the autoclaves is crucial to assure the availability of sterilized tools. 

In this use case we will explain how machine learning tools assist the Leiden site to have a continuous supply of equipment avoiding this way interruptions in the supply chain.
